Mario Draghi is being tipped to replace Jean-Claud Trichet as the next ECB President. His nomination is by no means straight-forward or a dead-cert, but the backing of French Pres Sarkozy and probably of the Merkel government in Germany as well will make is ascension to the position that much easier.
As one report highlights…
“A Jesuit-educated economics professor and former investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Draghi was named governor of the Bank of Italy in 2005.”
“In Dublin, the Independent newspaper said he “is likely to be more sensitive to the position of so-called ‘peripheral Europe,’ which includes Ireland, Greece, Portugal, and for some, Spain.”"
Mmmm, looks like the banksters have got their man in the endzone and now just need to get in the pocket and release him for the touch down. The money will keep flowing, the race to the bottom is only just getting warmed up!
